Spiritual Clutta

Recently I've been in an interesting funk and putting my finger on the pulse of it,  has been quite difficult. I realized I felt crowded, I was feeling a need for space!  But what kind? My ministry office is amazing, a cool home office space, even a master bathroom where I can go & get lost if you know what I mean (incredibly theraputic by the way lol), and a great staff & volunteer team. So then, what was it!

However, this morning during my devo's it hit me like Tuck on Brady (nothing personal pat fans)!... Clutter! in common venacular "clutta". In a recent article by Bob Merritt found in the Leadership Journal entitiled "Ministry Meldtdown" Bob says "I was doing what God had led me to do... and that was true, I was doing what God had led me to do, only I was doing too much of it." He further quotes Bill Hybels in saying "The way I was doing God's work was destroying the work of God in me."

SO you ask what am I going to do? good ?! Well I've determined to be more intentional about guarding my time w/the Lord. SO here's my interim plan (some of which we do but not consistently):

-Greeting God in the morning then my devo's
-Prayer (hallowing, petitioning, & interceding)
-Prayer w/my wife & then our kids before they go off to school
-@ least 2 quite times before I return home (9-5ish)
-Meditation (devo, quite time, prayer or however he leads) before bed
-A weekly massage
-A 30 min weekend bath (with the hot tub, bubble effect, candles, worship music) - started this today, YES!

I end my ramblings with a quote from Ruth Haley Barton's book Strengthening the Soul of Your Leadership. "Truly, the best thing any of us have to bring to leadership is our own transforming selves".
